Let’s Go Play: Catamaran, Backroads & ATVs

We’re so excited about the excursions we’ve planned for you—each one showcases a different side of Tulum. Your included adventure is a 5-hour sail on a beautiful catamaran, cruising the Riviera Maya to snorkel the calm, crystal-clear waters of In-Ha Reef and then kick back at a shallow sandbar. For those who want more, our first add-on is México Kan Tours’ Mayan Backroads Bike Tour: an active day rolling through forest backroads and village cornfields, visiting sustainable Mayan communities, spotting wildlife in the Punta Laguna reserve, swimming a cenote, and enjoying a home-cooked farm-to-table lunch. The second add-on is a motors-only ATV adventure—twisting along jungle trails and finishing with a tasty Mexican lunch and a cold Corona—pure fun for the thrill-seekers. Pick your pace; we’ll handle the details.

Catamaran Sail — Included in cost

The experience

  • Depart: Puerto Aventuras marina → cruise north ~1 hour along the Riviera Maya.

  • Stop 1: In-Ha Reef (snorkel heaven). Semi-sheltered, calm, crystal-clear water on the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef.
Expect sea turtles, colorful tropical fish, and vibrant reef life.

  • Stop 2: La Bocana (shallow sandbar vibes). Float, wade, dance, or chill with a drink in hand.

All the fun stuff (included)

  • Snorkeling: Masks, snorkels, fins, and in-water crew support so you can hop in/out anytime.

  • Open bar: Classic cocktails, beer, soft drinks, purified water, and juices throughout the sail.

  • Tasty snacks: Fresh fruit, chips/guac/salsa, and light bites served by the crew between swims.

  • Sun & shade: Cushioned deck loungers, shaded seating, and onboard restrooms for comfort.

  • Music: Bluetooth tunes—bring your playlist for your boat, your vibe.

  • Pro crew: Captain + mates who guide snorkeling, keep drinks flowing, and snap photos on your device if you ask.

The extra-cool perk: troll fishing + cook your catch

  • Lines go out while we cruise. If you hook something, the crew can prep it onboard (think: fresh tacos/nibbles with their “secret sauce”). Ocean-to-table bragging rights, unlocked.

Perfect for every energy level

  • Splashy: Snorkel both stops, float, and explore.

  • Chill: Sunbathe, sip a cocktail, enjoy the sea breeze and scenery—no pressure to swim.

Optional Add-Ons (extra cost)

1) Mayan Backroads Bike Tour — México Kan Tours (Full Day)

Price: $190 per person (guide gratuity not included; suggested tip 50–100 pesos)

Experience: an active, authentic day through rural Mayan communities, the Punta Laguna jungle reserve, and a cenote—led by expert local guides.

Who it’s for:

  • An active bike tour to enjoy nature & Mayan culture

  • A true authentic experience

  • Distance on bike 20 km / 12 miles

  • Easy biking terrain, but you must be comfortable cycling

  • Off-the-beaten-path vibe — rural tourism, ecotourism, responsible tourism

2) ATV Jungle Ride — Authentic Tours Tulum (Private, ATVs + Lunch + 1 Corona)

Price: TBD (we’ll publish as soon as it’s confirmed)

Experience: pure ATV time on jungle trails (we’ve removed the cenote/zip-line segments to keep this motors-only and distinct from the other tours), followed by a traditional Mexican lunch and a celebratory Corona.

What’s included:

  • Guided ATV ride on dirt/rocky jungle tracks

  • Helmets + basic instruction

  • Traditional Mexican lunch + 1 Corona

Soft safety note (please read):
ATVs are fun but not for the faint of heart. They require alertness, balance, and control—especially on uneven terrain. We’ve had a guest flip an ATV in the past (they were okay), so if you’re easily injured, recovering from an injury, or uncomfortable with power sports, we recommend choosing the catamaran or bike tour instead. If you ride, follow guide instructions, keep safe speeds, and consider riding double if you’re nervous.
